The existing roof system consists of a mechanically attached black EPDM rubber roof system installed over 1/2" fiberboard...which was installed over the original slag built up roof system over 1.5" of fiberglass roof insulation on a corrugated steel decking. The roof system's fiberboard roof insulation and its original fiberglass insulation has absorbed quite a bit of the water that has infiltrated its system. Therefore, the need to remove both systems is paramount to the success of the new installation. What makes this application different is timing. The removal of the existing system exposes the facility to the elements at a very unpredicatble time of year. Special care has ben taken in scheduling the progression of work to eliminate the prospect of water infiltration into the building. While this project would take less than two weeks in the summertime, it may take up to two months to complete this project in the winter time. It is that care in application that will make the difference between a successful project and headaches all around for the building owner and contractor alike.

The steel decking is checked for signs of deterioration and replaced, if needed, prior to the application of the new roof system. As in all ART applications, all flashing details are completed 100% each day.
